A meeting of the above Council v.ac held last evening. Proeent: Messrs. J. I'ark (Mayor), J. K. Lowell; A. MeColl. It. -Mniwortb. T. Gilbert, P. R. Lipscouibe, E. iMorton, and C- U. Baker. Finance. —The general account is In debit X 4532,' Mount. Smart lleserve account is in credit £84. Accounts amounting to Drainage.—The Board* of Health l.as i-allea upon the Council to drain H-au1 , ...*: ton Flat, at a ety>t not to exceed £lU<u The work will be i>ut in hand at on.-c. Water.—The Board ci Health reported having analysed the Onebunga water usc-i for domestic purposes, and found It to be eminently satisfactory.
■Water Mains.—The Counuil declined to sell the 6-inch water mains already laid in Campbell Road to the Ouc-tree Hill JLUiad Board.
Breaches of By-laws.—There were Iβ convictions in the Onehiiutca Magistrate* Court last auarter for breaches of the borough by-law*. The tines, amounting to £8 I.'. go to the Borough. Council. Tree Planting.—lt was resolved to plant :!50 redwood and "JSO Donglag fir trees on the Reserves. The .Reserves committee Is to report on the cost of planting the Arthur Street gully and 20 acres at •Hlllsbomush.
ijueen Street.—The engineer reported that to bltumenise Queen street, from Trincee Street U, Arthur Street. would '•ost about £180: to do the balance of tbe main thoroughfare iq bltuaiea would cost 51464. and in tar £12! M. Keferrexl tr> committee.
Railway Sheds.—The captain of tile Fire Ericade (Jjr. T. Gilbert) reported th»t tbe smoke stack at tne Onehunga railway sheds is built of wood. He suggested that the Railway Dcpartmept be re<jueeUd by the Coudcll to provide hose for the use of tbe engine cleaners, thus arolding the necessltv to call out the firo brigade on every occasion that the smoke stack catches flre. The report is to ha seat to tlie KaiJ»»t Department.
Jellicoe depntation waited npon tliß Council from the Citizens' Committee with a reauest that two latrines be erected in Jeijlcoe Park.
