UNION MEETINGS.

RESTRAINTS IN AMERICA. " QUESTION OF PERMANENCY. NEW YORK, September 24. The Chicago Federal Court has granted a temporary injunction replacing the restraining order granted the Attor-ney-General, Mr. H. M. ])au<_herty, against the railway strikers. It contains modifications allowing the unions to use their funds for sick benefits in cases of necessity, and also permitting meetings >f unionists whvn there is no con-piracy to obstruct inter-State commerce. It now appears that if the Government wishes a permanent injunction it will have to ask for another hearing and call witnesses to substantiate the charges against the strikers.—i A. and S.Z.)
