Curley, Catholic Archbishop of Baltimore, preaching at Athlone, said that h< , . was leaving Ireland horrified and stupefied -with the picture she presented. IMMEDIATE PEACE STEPS. COMPROMISE WITH REBELS. LONDON. September 4. The Irish Labour party intends to press the Free State Government cither to prove that the revolt is crushed or to compromise with the rebels. Tbc majority of the Government favours continuing the war to an end. and are rvon disposed to introduce more drastic methods than those adopted by Mr. Collins, but it is doubtful if in view of the terrible economic conditions they can Tesist the Labour demand for peace, unemployment relief, and food for the devastated areas.
