MISTAKEN IDENTITY.
A CURIOUS CASE. (By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) CHRISTCHUECH, this day. A curious case of mistaken identity occurred in Chrietchurch on Friday. About 5 o'clock in the afternoon an old man dropped dead in Moorhouse Avenue. When the police arrived on the scene an elderly woman informed them that she knew the deceased, where he resided, and who his relatives were. Having collected this information, the police removed the body to the morgue. After having supplied information to the police the woman went round to inform the relatives of the death, but on entering the house ehe found the man who she supposed was dead sitting by the fireside alive and well. The police state that the information supplied to them by the woman was so positive they had no idea but that it wae correct. Subsequently the police ascertained the man's identity. He wae 63 years of age, and had been attended for heart trouble by a doctor.
