AVONDALE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Avondale Borm/h Council was held on "Wednesday evening, the Mayor (Mr. J. \V. Klnniburghi Ing. There were also present: Crs. J. B. Clarke. I(. Wurd. W. .1. Thompson, A. P. Haslam. Thos. Roe. A. E. Blackman,. <_'. £■ Fearon, and G. Malcolm. The Bank of Xew Zealand wrote statins that the Council may borrow on overdraft iin to £3001). but pointing out that If tbe Council borrows outside the limit will be reilccc.l accordingly. A letter was received from the DirectorGeneral uf Health iv regard to Avondale drainage, stating that the requisition made by the Board of Health, under date tbe 27tn July, lfl-1. calling upon tile Avondale Road Hoard to provide a main sewer, still holci» good so far as the Borough Council is concerned. A letter was received from the secretary of the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies Association sending draft rules an* objects of the Association. It was resolved that tl.e Avondale Borough 'Cornell -jppl.v for membership t • the Association. The Mayor and Councillor Thompson were appointed deiejates to the Association. The Auditor-General forwarded the certified accounts and balance-sheet of the Avondale lluad Board for year ended .list March. !!*2i. and also for period Ist April to 3rd May. the date when the new Council took oifi.-e. It was resolved to advertise that the actounts he advertised an being open for inspection to ratepayers free of charge for fourteen days. The Auckland Gas Co. quoted £12 cost of erecting new street lamp at the Avondale end of the Whan Rrid-.'p. Resolved that the work be authorised forthwith.
