TEACHERS' APPEAL BOARD.
A sitting of the Teachers' Appeal Board for the Auckland district was commenced this morning at the Education Board's offices. The members of the board are Mr. Peter Karr (chairman), .Mr. T. B Strong (department's representative) and Mr. B. T. Hhiks (teachers' representative). Mr. C. W. Garrard (sonior inspector) appeared a3 advocate for the Auckland inspectorate, and .Mr. A. .1. C. Hall was advocate for such appellants as did not appear for themselves. The number of appeals to be dealt with is much smaller than was the case last year, indicating that the local inspectorate has the confidence of the teachers generally. Altogether there were -- appeals lodged, and of these seven were subsequently withdrawn, leaving 13 to be dealt with by the hoard. The appeals are not heard publicly, and it is anticipated that they will occupy the attention of the board for two days.
