ADDRESS BEFORE MEDICOS. A representative meeting of the medical profession was held at the Auckland Hospital on Thursday evening. Dr. Casement Aickin. president of the Auckland branch of the British Medical Association, was in the chair. Miss Margaret Thorp, who is at present in Auckland in connection with the organising of funds for the relief of poverty-stricken Russia, gave an address illustrated by a large number of slides, and showing the effects resulting from the war and subsequent famine in Central Europe. The large number of cases of rickets and tuberculosis existing among chil- , dren throughout these countries was i shown. The slides also illustrated the ; very extensive relief work which is being , carried out. Miss Thorp pointed out , how absolutely inadequate were the doctors, while the medical supplies wore , insufficient to cope with the disease that , prevailed. She appealed to the medical I men to do their utmost to meet the ( situation, and suggested that a special , effort might be made in sending over necessary supplies. At the close of the lecture a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Tracy Inglis, who voiced the appreciation of the audience with the address and assured Miss Thorp that an effort would be made to secure a liberal response from the members of the profession.
