COLLISION IN MANUKAU ROAD
BETWEEN TAXI AND TRAM. OCCUPANTS' NARROW ESCAPE. An accident, which might have had|. more serious consequences, occurred in !, Manukau Road, Parnell, yesterday after- ! noon. A taxi-car in which there were j three women suddenly slowed down and ! turned to cross the road. At the same time the driver noticed a tram car close behind him, and accelerated with a view , of clearing it, but before he could do so the back of the taxi was struck by the tram. Before the tram was pulled up the motor car was carried some distance. The occupants of the car fortunately escaped injury, but the back wheels of the motor car were buckled and the mudguards smashed.
