AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP OF NEW ZEALAND. The second round of the amnteiir <-haiß- : pionship was concluded last night in the Sports Hull Rooms. The players. R. Brinsdon and J. W. Russell, played evenly right into the fourth hundred, when Brinsden found his form, and with ije aid of breaks of 01 and :KJ ran to same :t winner by 130 poiuts. The winner is only a young player, whose careful style make* him appear ;is n 1 slow scorer, and he was very successful at | makins winnins hazards of uiuch difficulty .as well as the red user. Itussell. thoush iv want of practice, made many individual shots of sreat merit. Breaks: Brinsilen. CI, 33, 32, 30. 20, 2:1. 22 and averaging seven i per innings. Russell. :<7, 26, 25, i! and 20. The draw and order of play in the semifinals is as follows: Saturday. July 8. at 7.30 p.m.. E. V. Roberts v. H. Brinsder.; Monday July 10. at 2.H0 p.m.. E. Morrison v. A. "Bowie. The date of the linal being played will appear in a later issue. New Zealand Professional Handicap Tournament.—This event, which is an annual j Sports' Club on Monday. July 24. Valuable prizes are offered, the I entry fee is only nominal, and good attendances should be assured. It is announced that the New South Wales champion A. Abotomey and \V. Stephenson are matched for £50 to play 5230 up. The game will lie' played in the mom of the Amateur Snorts Club, anil the date of play starting will be announced in a later issue.
