MR. GILES' RETIREMENT.
(By Telegraph. —'Own Correspondent.* WAIHI, Friday. At a meeting of the Borough Council this evening, the following resolution relevant to the services of the Conciliation Commissioner, proposed by the Mayor, was carried unanimo-slv: "That this Council regrets to hear of the enforced retirement of 'Mr. T. Harle Giles, and places on record its high appreciation of his long and faithful services and his outstandincr ability and integrity in his capacity of Conciliation Commissioner. The Council is also of opinion that the Government should provide more just and equitible condition of Mr. Giles' retirement, either by providing for a pension allowance or by payment for unexpired period of Mr. Giles' appointment."
