SLY-GROGGERS FALL OUT.

a . (From Our Own Reporter.) VANCOUVER, May 6. Frank Henry McCoy and his wife, Maud, Bold liquor illegally at Prince Rupert for three years, accumulated over five thousand pounds in profits, quarrelledover the division of the spoils, and to settle their dispute took recourse to the majesty of the law. Mrs. McCoy attempted to recover 9100 dollars, allegedly loaned to her husband. The latter pleaded that the money was his share of the profits of a business in whibh he and his wife were partners. In the witness box the plaintiff admitted she and her husband were selling liquor in Prince Rupert during 1919 and 1920, and the net profits were between 15,000 and 16,000 dollars for those years alone. Her husband purchased the stock in Vancouver while his wife retailed it in Prince Rupert. "I never drank any whisky in my life," she said. "You cannot sell and drinktoo. Although I sold liquor at that time I have not done so since." According to Mrs. McCoy's story, her husband has obtained his'share of the profits and she then remitted him 7,000 dollars for the purpose of buying a residence in Vancouver, and the balance of 2,100 dollars was made up in a later payment. Since severing business connections with her husband, Mrs. McCov stated she took over an hotel at Alice Arm She' refused point blank to tell how or where she got the money to buy it. Mr. Justice Clement, in dismissing thi case, stated: "If people get U.to an illegal business and then start quarreling, they will have to. settle their squabbles out of court."
