SIR ROBERT PHILP DEAD.
EX-PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND. BRISBANE, June 18. The death has occurred of Sir Robert Philp, ex-Premier of Queensland, at the age of 71.—A. and N.Z. Cable.) Sir Robert Philp, one of the founders of Burns, Philp and Co., Limited, was born in Glasgow, nnd arrived in Australia at tho age of eleven. When twelve years old he entered the omploy of Bright Brothers and Company, merchants, of Brisbane. In 1886 he was elected to the Queensland Parliament and became Secretary for Public Works in 1803. He served three terms as Premier of Liberal Ministries, from 1599 tn 1901, from 1901 to 1903, and from 1907 to 1908. He was knighted in 1915.
