OBITUARY.

MR. E. R. PIGGOTT. The interment took place this afternoon at Symonds Street Cemetery ot Mr. Edward Reuben Piggott, who died on Saturday, aged 71 years. Deceased w w known to a large circle of friends by hi» second name of Reuben. Of a genial nature, Mr. Piggott was popular with all who knew him. He arrived in New Zealand from London in 1868. At first he was engaged on the Waikato Rivci j service, and later was for 40 years care- j taker and messenger for the X.Z. In-' surance Company's offices, Queen Street. Retiring on account of advancing years, I -Mr. Piggott spent the evening of his I days at his residence, Ponsonby Terrace, having been in poor health for the last! few years. Deceased wag a member of Lodge Ara, 348, 1.c., Freemasons, had! served as an officer of the Provincial! Grand Lodge, and was at one time presi-1 dent of the Masonic Club. Mr. Piggott is survived by his wife and two daughters. Mr. Piggott was a vestryman at St. Matthew's for a number of years, and at the time of his death was "a member of the vestry of All Saints' Church, Ponsonby. MR. H. G. RADFORD. On Saturday afternoon there died at Auckland Hospital, Mr. H. G. L. Radford, a resident of Auckland district for the past sixty-three years. He arrived in New Zealand by the ship .Nugget when a lad twelve years of age. He became a printer, and was on the composing staff of the morning paper in Auckland for twenty-six years. He was at one time a partner with the Hon. W. McCullough at the Thames. Deceased was a prominent member of the Masonic Brotherhood. He is survived by four 6ons. MR. HUGH CASSIDY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Mr. Hugh Cassidy. who wag associated with coaching in Canterbury and the West Coast-for nearly fifty years, died at his home at Springfield this morning after an illmiss of a few days' duration. He established the firm of Cassidy Brothers, coach proprietors, on the West Coast in 1873. MR. ROBERT LEE. (By Teiegrarph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The death is announced of Mr. Robert Lee, aged eighty-five, formerly ChiefInspector of . the Education Board, and afterwards chairman. He was author of the "standard system" of class division and promotion in schools, which was first instituted in the Nelson district. He arrived in the Dominion in 1864. • I
