PACIFIC MAIL CONTRACT.
FREIGHTS REDUCED. (By Telegraph.—Pre«« Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Tbe contract for renewal of the Pacific mail services has been made by the Government with the Union Steamship Company. Until the contract is signed no details will he available, but it is stated on good authority that freight rates for tbe Dominion produce carried on mail steamers shows a substantial reduction.
