—— m ■ ■ A LONE-HANDED RAIDER. A fairly extensive looting of launches in the harbour was admitted by a young l man, Frank Bertram Inkster (21)" who j came before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., I yesterday afternoon on five charges of theft, and one of being in unlawful possession of a couple of revolvers. EviI dence was given that when accused was , arrested recently at Baytwatcr, where he lived in a two-roomed shack, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of goods stolen in February and March from two launches and a scow in the j harboif •. He himself had a small yacht, I which enabled him to get about the harj hour unnoticed. A dinghy, two magnetos, j two gramophones, binoculars, compass, i camera, two primus stoves, and a quani tity of other material, valued at about | £170, were in his possession as the result •of the thefts. One lot valued at £120 i came from tho launch Alecia, owned by |A. M. Brecken. Inkster admitted the . thefts to Seniordetective Cummings, who ; arrested him, and gave assistance to have I the property identified, with the result that only about £5 worth of stolen stuff was not recovered. Accused, who was represented by Mr. :T. Milliken, pleaded "guilty," and was ' committed to the Supreme Court for j sentence.
