SMOKE «. is WASTE f£Z"° When a fire is replenished with coal, smoke is produced, and passes away up the chimney unburned. The smoke is the gas tar, etc., which the coal would have yielded if treated in the gas works. RADIATION from a glowing fire is the healthiest and best means of warming an apartment A lump of smoking coal does not radiate heat It only begins to do useful work when it has been partially coked. REDUCE smoke, keep your chimneys clean, and increase the radiation from your fires by mixing coke with your coal. COKE is the cheapest form in which heat units can be purchased, and when the saving in loss by smoke and the increased efficiency of radiation is taken into account, it is very much cheaper than coal. Fill your coal cellar Jvith a mixture of 2 to 3of Coke to fof coal. Do not keep the sacks. Household Coke for PRICES. can be obtained from your Coal Dealer, or SEE BACK from the Auckland Gas Company, Ltd.'s OF Works or Depots.
