WILTSHIRE'S CARGO.

The manifest and cargo plan of the Wiltshire have now come to hand by mail from the Old Country, and show that ■onsiderable cargo for all principal ports jf the Dominion had been shipped, in■hiding a good deal for Auckland. Cargo liael been consigned from Bristol, Glasgow and Liverpool, and it consisted principally of heavy goods, such as iron ivare of various descriptions. There was also a good deal of coal on the vessld. which took tip a considerable portion of space, but was intended for the Wiltshire's own consumption. There were also heavy stocks of chemicals, oils, paints, nnd also salt aboard. Motor cars, whisky, stout, tobacco and cigarettes were among the luxuries noticed among the lists. A large proportion of the cargo was consigned to Southern ports, particularly Dunedin and Lyttelton. Among the consignees were the Public Works Department, and the Railway* Department, both of whom had important orders shipped by the vessel. TDK AUCKLAND CAUGO. The Auckland cargo appears to be of a general character, inclineng a good deal of general merchandi.se, and iron and sU'el goods. There was also a good deal of carthernware aboard the ship for this port, also galvanised iron, tobacco and salt, as well as a certain quantity of whisky. The rest of the whisky was consigned to Wellington and Lyttelton with a small quantity for Dunedin. CONTEXTS OF HOLDS. AUCKLAND CARGO IX FIVE. In the Xo. 1 hold the Auckland shipment consists of glass goods, salt, tanks, paiper, seeds, twine, netting, flour, coils of wire, 'bar iron, pig iron, gaivaniseei iron, pipes, steel, hoops, tins, nails, etc. In Xo. i hold the majority of the cargo was for Lyttelton and Wellington. The Auckland cargo most of which, of course, is on top, includes iron ware, nuts, paper, steel, and general goods. Most of the stuff in Xo. 3 hold is for Lyttelton, with a considerable amount also fur Wellington There are a number of general bales of goods for Auckland, a quantity of paper and copper, galvanised wire, and sundries. No. 4 bold consists entirely of coal. No. 5 contains a good deal of mail matter, and a considerable quantity of salt for Auckland. There are smaU quantities of gootls in this hold for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. STEEL AXD IROX. Other Auckland cargo in the stern end consists of steel and iron goods galvanised iron, wire, oil, tills, tin and other heavy materials. The aftermost hold also contains large quantities of tobacco for Auckland and other ports, and whisky for Auckland, "Wellington, and Dunedin, with a small quantity of stout. In Xo. C hold the cargo is almost entirely for Southern ports, consisting generally of heavy iron and steel goods, including nails, hoops, pig iron, galvanised iron and crates and tanks. There is also some plate glass for Lyttelton. and earthenware for Auckland. A good deal of chemicals, paints and oils were consigned to Dunedin. Cargo of the same description, with the addition of a good deal of tobacco and cigarettes, was consigned to Wellington. Salt, -which was a considerable item in the cargo of the Wiltshire, was also among the Auckland consignment. HEAVY MATERIALS. In almost entirely the whole of the lower portion of the vessel the cargo consisted of heavy materials, particularly iron. Oils, paints, chemicals and plaster in fairly large quantities were also ordered for Auckland. The Auckland consignment from Bristol totalled 1081 tons. At Liverpool 204S tons were shipped, while the Glasgow shipment for -this port was 630 tons, making a grand total consigned to Auckland from the three ports of 3759 tons. Approximately 10,000 tons of cargo was shipped to the Dominion on the ill-fated voyage of the Wiltshire. WILTSHIRE'S MANIFESTS. SOME OF THE AUCKLAND CARGO. LARGE AMOUNT INVOLVED. Although the duplicate manifests of the ship have come to hand many of the consignees have not yet received shipping adyices from their British representatives. Following are, however, some of the Auckland consignments concerned in the wreck: — The cargo consigned to Burns, Philp and Co.. Ltd., comprised 200 boxes of candles valued at £150. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company had a small consignment oi tin plates and sheath cloth, the value of which is at present unknown. Messrs. Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Ltd.. ha<l a fairly large consignment of soft goods aboard, the value between £3000 and £4000. So far as they know at present Messr3 Tanfield, Potter, Ltd., had about £200 worth of china and earthenware on the manifest. The British Empire Trading Company had a large shipment of tobacco and cigarettes, 200 cases of which is for Auckland. A case of cigarettes is usually valued at aibout £160 landed. The cargo for the Auckland Gas Company was valued at £1000, and comprised 135 steel tubes, five cases of gas heaters, seven cases of galvanised sheets, two bales of waste cotton, one case of tracing cloth, and five cases of meter parts. Messrs. Wingate and Co., Ltd., had a quantity of hardware and bar iron, the tot-al value of which would be about £3000. Xew Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co. had a consignment of dairying material and salt, the total value being £8000. Messrs. Archibald Clark and Sons have received advice that there were shipped for their firm by the Wiltshire goods to the value of £1000, mostly cotton lines. This was fully covered by insurance. Messrs. John Chambers and Son had only small shipments of machinery accessories by the Wiltshire, but the total value is not known. Particulars are not to liand by to-day's mail as t» the shipments for the Southern branches of the firm. Messrs. L. D. Nathan were not able to state the quantity and value of their shipments by the Wiltshire owing to the absence of advice by mail. Hancock and Co., Ltd., have roughly £3500 worth of goods on board in the shape of liquors and sundries. Most of tho consignment is covered by insurance. The cargo consigned to the Auckland branch of John Lysaerht, Ltd., comprised 426 tons of galvanised iron, the value of which is estimated to 'be f 10.000 to £12,000. Messrs. Phillips and Impey had on board a cargo, valued at a little more than £3000, comprising plate glass, figured rolled srlass. varnishes, paints, and oils and scrim. There was a small cargo r-f about fl4 worth of hardware consigned to Messrs. Porter and Co. THE MANIFEST. MAY RE SEEN AT SHIPPING COMPANY'S OFFICE. At was expected, the duplicate manifests of the Wiltshire arrived by the Vancouver mail steamer Niagara this morning, and may be inspected at the office* of the New Zealand Shipping Company. There is also an iiiteresfng plan of the ship showing exactly where all the different kinds of cargo are =!r\vrd. and also ahowinp the port to which they arc consigned. SAILORS, NOT SOLDIERS. The Prime Minister, in a Dunedin lele«ram published on the :!rd met.. was reported to have-said: "The serious work connected with the rescue of the Wiltshire's rrew was just what we might have expected from British soldiers and from the hardy eettlcre of the island." The Prime Minister etates that the word "soldiers" should read "sailors," and thus is borne out by the original message as dispatched iro'm Dunedin. FARMERS' APPRECIATION.
