MAORI LEAGUE TEAM.
BEATEN IN SECOND MATCH. 31 FOUfTS TO 14. SYDNEY. -Tune 5. The New South Wales second thirteen defeated the Maori liugby League team by 31 points u> 14. Twenty-five thousand people witnessed the match, which was played in <ine weather. The first hull was devoid of brilliancy owing to extreme cautiousness. Morrison opened with a try for the visitors, which Gardner converted, .lust before the interval >->ddoii crossed for the home team, and Oxford added the extra points. Immediately on rpeuittiug the home team pressed their opponents, and increase.-l the score to 14 in a f e«" minutes by means of a try by Wearing and three goals by Oxford. Henceforth the New South Wales players threw the Maoris on the defensive. Dufty. the Maori fullback, was repeatedly extricating his* side, lie also kicked two goals, but two brilliant tries by Toohey. w":io ran the length ot the field, kept the home team well ahead.
