Jacquot and Psychology were in the lead as the field dashed round Tattenham ' Corner, where Donoghue got through on the rails with Captain Cuttle, and the Hurry On colt, striding away from his opponent*, romped home an easy winner four lengths in advance of Tamar, who in turn was three lengths in advance of Craigangower. St. Louis finished fourth and Simon Pure fifth. Pondoland, who ran badly, was never prominent. Time, 2m. 34 3-ss. A quarter of an hour before the race, and when Donoghue was about to mount Captain Cuttle, he noticed that one of the colts' racing plates had spread. Just in time a farrier was found to adjust the plate, but the col.t'jwas still slightly lame, a"nd the trainer, was alarmed. It was therefore decided to make an infinitesimal* "Injection of cocaine into the affected foot. Meanwhile, Captain Cuttle missed' the parade. Thousands of rumours were circulating, and when Donoghue and Lord Woolavington's colt appeared they received an ovation. Donoghue gave the colt a short, sharp run, and was satisfied that all was well again, but the connections of the colt experienced a bad quarter of an hour. (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
