Owing to a breakflown of the sinking pump during the week work has been suspended for a few days. In the Welcome Find section the winze on tlie repf has hpen pumped out. The reef Iβ from 121n to lSln in width. Driving north from the bottom of the winze has heen commenced and a few tons of ore have been broken and saved for crushing. Strong seen, and a few pieces of picked stone have been selected. Preparations for commencing.stoplng operations above the 400 ft level are under way. and towards tile end of next v.pek there should be four faces going. As the reef is up to 3ft In width there will soon he sufficient ore on hand to have a trial crushing put through the battery. It is oxpectprt to have the battery going before the end of the month." Ltd.. have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date lftth Instant:— As compared with last wool sale's closing rates prices are higher about 10 per cert for fine scoured crossbred fine greasy crossbred, medium scoured crossbred and greasy crosshrprt lambs: nbnut 10 per cent to 15 per cent hiirher for medium nnd inferior merino and crossbred slipe: about 15 per cent higher for medium greasy crossbred and coarse scoured crossbred: about 20 per cent higher for ■coarse greasy crossbred: 5 per cent hisrher for superfine merino and lambs' merino. •Sales closed with a firm market. Average current London values of the undernoted descriptions of N>w Zealand creasy wool: Rond merino 1/10. medium merino 1/7. inferior merino 1/4. fine crossbred 1/G. nirdium crossbred 10d, coarse croeibred (40's) 7sd. coarse crossbred (36's) 7d ; THE WHEAT HARVEST. NEW SOUTH WALES RETURNS. The final returns of the result of tl'« wheat harvest for the season 1021-22 have hpen received by the Government Statistician (Mr. H. A. Smith), and the quantities produced of grain and of hay are now available. The area harvested for grain nag 3.202.G10 acres, including 65,600 acres which failed entirely. The yield of 5,500 acres, principally in the western slopes, was de--4R8.!>30 acres, including 5,7*0 acres" wbhh failpd, and 17.570 acres fed-off, making a total of 3,689.110 acres sown with wheat. The grain harvested amounted to 14.216 660 hags, equivalent to 42,650,000 bushels, or 13.3 bushels per acre. The production of bay was 579.800 tone, or 1.24 tons per acre. In the Riverina and Central Plains, wbe c half the wheat crop of the State Is produced, the actua! yield wae 1,038.000 ■bushels, or 4.4 per cent below the early estimate.
