SAFE-BLOWER IN CHURCH.
li:u.-TALE FINGER-PRINTS. («J Telegraph—Press AsMdatiOß,) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Mervyn John Cudby, a youth, was charged with breaking and entering the shop of W. H. Tisdall. in Lambton Quay and stealing revolvers and ammunition; breaking and entering St. Mark's Church with intent to commit a crime; and breaking and entering other premises with similar intent. "There are two certainties in life— death and finger-prints," said ChiefDetective Kemp in stating that the charge wae based upon the testimony of a finger-print expert. Forcible entry was made into the church. The leadlights were removed and a safe blown open. The choir eurplices were used to deaden the sound. Nothing was stolen except the keys. Considerable damage was caused. Oa various, articles fingerprints were discovered, which Mr. Dinnie swore were those of the accused. The accused denied hie guilt, and was committed for trial.
