NEW ZEALAND GLASS WORKS. A prospectus is advertised to-day of a trlnos company When the official flgures of th« annual Imports of glassware into this Dominion are consulted, some idea is cleaned of the scone for the New Zealand Glass Works Ltd that Iβ now forming to manufacture In the Dominion aD classes of glassware Including sheet glass. Jam Jars, bottles 'etc In 1920 over £600,000 worth of glassware came to this country from overseas. Of that sum plain empty bottles alone amounted to over £125,000. It Is anticipated that a ready market exists, in this country that will absorb all the glassware that the new company can manufacture for many years to come. Among the initial subscribers to the 'capital of the company are such men as JHex. Duncan, manager of Ward's brewery: Tbomns Madden, secretary of Staples' brewery: J. R. IHayward, managing director of Harward Bros.-, nictle and vinegar manufacturers: T. R. Quffl, Quill Morris, wine and spirit merchants, and J. A. Redpath of Chrlstchnrch. It is pointed out by the promoters that the lAtntrallan Glass Manufacturers' Co., Ltd., a company that operates under similar conditions of labour, etc., as those of New Zealand, over a period .of five years' trading , added the sum of £74,543 to reserves. A 10 per rent dividend was paid for the year endIng March, W2l. As the demand In Australia Tor glass products is much in excess of the loc-al supply, the earning power of the- Australian company will continue to grow. A similar set of conditions.
