■ NEW X/XMN. .c. The fortnightly meetins of the XeW Lynn Town Board took place on Monday. Present: Messrs. Geo. Lawson S Wilding, F. Roberts, £. Sampson, E. Wright and E. Stacey. ■Works Committee. — Recommendations from this committee included improvements to Queen Street, Ureat North Koad, Xitirnngi Koad, Seaorook Avenue, and Parker Avenue. Drainage.—Mr. AW Burman reported toe existence of a nuisance on Puriri Street. He stated that he was receiving storm water drainage and sewage drainage Iron* adjoining neighbours. The board's inspector was asked to report and n> tak* action, if necessary, in ret-pect to any sanitary nuisance. Station Lis'uting.—Mr. Roberts drew the boaid's attention to the fact that very often the lighting facilities at the railway station were not fully utilised, thereby creating a danger to the public.—The Department is to be communicated with on the subject. » Sanitation.—A new sanitary measure for eidered at fhe boards next meeting.

MOUNT EDEN. A meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council was held on Monday gveninj; Mr. J. W. Shackelford presiding. Building By-law.—A motion by Mr. Drewwas carried amending the by-law so that the eaves of any building could not approach the perpendicular from the boundary by less than two feet.

Potter's Park Improvements. —The engineer was? asked to draw up plans for draining the low-lying parts of Potter* Park, and it was decided to approach the Drainage Board to obtain permission to drain into the main sewer. A resolution was also passed providing for the construction of a path from the northern entrance.

Improvements to Roads. —A resolution was passed providing for the expenditure of the loan allocation of £300 on Improvements to Ashton Road, and to supplement this with a further £100 from the district fund. A sum of £400 was also allocated to finance -works in Woodford and Wllford Roads: £17." loan allocation was authorised for expenditure on Herbert Road, with £25 from the district fund.

Metalline Dominion Road.—According t» a statement by the borough engineer, Mr. J. Rogers, good progress was being made in the permanent metalling of-Dominion Road, and the Railway Department had completely re-decked the railway overhead bridge at Mount Eden. Loan Blatters.—The council decided en the advice of the Finance Committee to approach the Government with a request for the authorisation of payment of 64 per cent on the antecedent liability loan, for a term of 15 years, with a sinking fund of 2i per cent: but the resolution, eaid the Mayor, did not commit the council to the payment of 0$ per cent. Sanitary Matters. —It was decided to ascertain how many dwellings within easy distance of the sewers had not connected with the system, and the engineer and the sanitary inspector were asked to report oa all such dwellings. MOUNT KOSKIIX. A meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board was held on Monday night. Present: Messrs. G. E. Taneley (chairman), H. Luke, J. Peet. J. J. Preston. E. J. Herd, S. Scarborough, and S- Hamon. A Protest. —It w«» derided to draw the attention of Sir F. W. Lang and Mr. B. V. Potter. M.P.'s. to the system of confiscating land J»y the Crown Lands Department from private property owners when subdividing their lands for building sites. The board entered its protest against this systed, and said it should be discontinued, as the land so taken is of no use. and only grows noxious weeds which are an eyesore to the people. Bnckland's Paddock.—With regard to the subdivision of Buckland's paddock theowners intimated that they were prepared to fall in with the board's wishes concerning the two road reserves to be left on the southern boundary on the understanding that the cross road be made between the roads only, leaving a road , reserve on the northern boundary abutting the Torrence Street reserve, and also provided the board agrees to the roads being formed in accordance with a typical cross section submitted to the board. House Inspection.—lt was resolved that the board's inspector should make a house to honse inspection, and impress upon each householder the necesity of keeping their premises quite clean. Annual Meeting.—The annual meeting of ratepayers will be held this evening at the board's office. "Xature has no moofls."—Auerbach.
