BISHOP VISITS SWANSON.
The Bishop of Auckland, Dr. A. W. AveriuV visited Swanson on Thursday last, and was accorded a most hearty reception by the committee, Messrs. Perris, Springall, and Kay. An excellent luncheon was provided by the members of the Ladies' Guild, in which a large number of residents participated. Mr. F. Kay (chairman), after welcoming the Bishop, gave a history of the Church from itginception, showing the progress it has made, and the future prospects with regard -to the erection of a new church. He also eulogised the good work of the Vicar, whose untiring, efforts in the district called for substantial support. The number of church attendants had doubled in the last two years. His Lordship gave a>ery instructive address. He complimented Swanson on the nrogress it had made in such a short period, and urged its members to continue in their good work. Musical items were rendered by Mesdames Wrigley, G. Taylor, Corey, and Mr. Selwyn Averill.
