COAL MINES OUTPUT.
A DECREASES YIELD. FROM A LARGER STAEF. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sunday. Some figures which were supplied today by the Hon. (j. J. Anderson show that during 1921 the coal output of New Zealand totalled 1,805,481 tons, a decrease of 40,224 tons compared with the previous year. During the same period the number of men employed Ti\ the coalmines was increased from 4078 to 4506.
For Canterbury, Otago, and Southland the decreased output was 55,093 tons and for the West Coast 16,346 tons. In the North Island there was an increase of 31,115 tons.
