LORD MOUNTBATTEN DEAD.
COUSIN TO THE KING. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 23. The death occurred to-day of Lord Leopold Mountbatten, after an operation for long-standing hip trouble.-!—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) Lord Leopold Mountbatten, who was 33 years of age, was the younger son of the" Princess Beatrice, sister to the King, and of the late Prince Henry of Battenburg. He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and joined the Army on the outbreak of war, serving till the armistice and rising fo the rank of major. He was not maimed.
