CHRISTCITURCH, Friday, it the annual meeting of the Ohristnrch branch of the Returned -Soldiers' _ociation, Mr. X. L. Drummoud, touchj on immigration, said he would always loome newcomers to New Zealand, I he would support no policy that nild bring immigrants to the country the expense of New He H strongly opposed to any patriotic Mty belonging to New Zealand soldiers to the sustenance of imgrants who, as soon as they arrived t_e country, had practically to fall jk upon charity. _i ex-Imperial soldier expressed the ivkftion that ex-Imperial men who fell on bad times in New Zealand should provided for by the Imperial Governnt, and he hoped the Returned Sol- •»' Association would work to ensure it state of affairs. The speaker spoke iy highly of the kindness with wihich •Imperial men had been received by i New Zealand Returned Soldiers' neeiation.
Another speaker eaid New Zealand Idiere had been so well treated in gland that they could not do too teh for the ex-Imperial men when they ne to this country.
