WAKE UP, PUKEKOHE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ilr. Cowan, in an article "The Pukekohe Stockade" says: "When the Eudcation Boards wake up to the value of local patriotism, the first incident to be commemorated by the painter's brush should be the defence of the Pukekohe Church Stockade, and that many of the old families there know what a gallant defence it was —seventeen men against two hundred Maoris.'" Why not wake up and erect a memorial before it is too late? I believe Captain J. { . Scott was a3kcd by the late Mr. Wright, of Pukekohe. to" allow a window to be put in one of the churches there to his memory, but he declined the kind offer, lie is still alive and goes 1.0 bowls and plays a good game, and he and Mrs. Corbett-Seott live at Epsom.— I am. etc.. OLD RESIDENT.
