"O-CBAITITAHT 013X1X68 AND WAULS. Our daily papers have iuat published a report of the deputation of Mastei 1 ainters to the Hon. Minister for Public Health. It was shown hy th'-m that the use of scrim is unsanitary, being a harbour for vermin. This statement is undoubtedly true and the practical men whose occupation gives then> tbe opportunity to examine the conditions arc certainly qualified to judge. In residences and buildings in the more modern countries, the u% of scrim is being gradually eliminated; in fact, in some countries it is not now known in house- construction. Sony; years ago the need for a better material for walla and ceilings having been recognised, substitutes were manufactured, and evei since then rapid strides have been made in perfecting the idea, until to-day we have a material which, although light and durable, yet has the great advantages of being stronger than wood, of resisting vermin, and of being unaffected by ordinary roof leaks.

The surface of this-material is pebbled, thus giving a beautiful appearance when painted or kalsomined; and when tne house owner becomes tired of any coloui it is an easy and inexpensive matter to change the whole apprarance of a room merely by the adding of a Ugh- coat oi paint or kalsomine. Beautiful effects can be obtained in panelling and stencilling, whilst unlike wallpaper, it is impossible to disfigure the wall by tearinar. One of the many fine features of this material is that great comfort is obtained by its rendering rooms cool in summer and warm in winter. This wonderful, yet inexpensive material is manufactured in various sized sheets, ranging from 6 x 3 to 16 x 4, so that it can be used entirely throughout modern residences. It is nearly twice as strong as ordinary w-all beards, and those who are building, making alterations or r. novating, should inquire for sample and prices of Upson Processed Board ana Upson Fibre Tile (for bathrooms and kitchens).

Booklets, sarr.ples and prices will be supplied on application to The LeylandO'Brien Timber Company, Ltd., Customs St-eet West, who can immediately supply requirements.— (Ad.)

It was not exactly love's young dream that was shattered in a case that came before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., A wife 76 years of age sought separation from her husband, who was two years younger. Finally his Worship decided that as they seemed unable to finish their lives in company a eeparation would be advisable.
