ADVANCES TO SOLDIERS. REQUEST FOE __SSU__PTIOX. (By Telegraph.—Press AMOciation.) CHRISTCHURCH, -Viday. The following resolution was carried at the annual meeting of tbe Christchurch branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association:—"That <t_j_ meeting expresses its regret that the benefits of the Discharged Soldiers* Settlement Act have been partially suspended - and trusts that the Act will'be put fully into operation again at the earliest possible moment. It draws the attention of the Government to the special need there is for a continuance of loans for the purpose of building bouses j as the j present immigration policy is making more acute the shortage of dwellings. The system while beneficial to tho soldier is also good for the country, and incurs no 1093 to- the Government.'* It was deckled to urge the Government to continue tbe benefits of tile repatriation scheme until June, 1923.
