This morning their Excellencies the Governor-General and the Viscountess Jellieoe attended the meet of the Pakunanga Hunt Club, at which her 'Excellency intended to ride. Ibis evening they will both be present with the Hon. Lucy Jellieoe and a party from Government House at the University tournament ball in the Town Hall. Lord Jellieoe has consented to open a new block of buildings at St. John's College on Wednesday, April 26. Mr. H. D. Crisp, of Gfcl>orne, is at pre--sent on a visit to Auckland. Messrs. C. K. and J. D. W-liams, of the East Coast, are at the Grand Hotel. The Hon. W. H. Triggs, M.L.C., of Chriebcburch, is at present visiting Auckland. Mr. P. I/. Aitken, of Melbourne, has been appointed a Commissioner of tbe Supreme Court of New Zealand. The Rev. C. H. Laws, principal of the Three Kings Methodist College, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Sir Thomas Mackenzie, M.L.C., has announced his intention of settling at Dunedin after the next session of Parliament. The Hon. iW. D. Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs,, who has been visiting Australia, has sailed on his return to the Dominion. Mr. C. G. Scolan, of the Dunedin branch, has been appointed manager of the Courtenay Place branch of the Bank of New South Wales. Mr. George Elliot, chairman of the Bank of New Zealand, has returned to the city from a motor trip to the Waikato and Rotorua. Mr. A. Cecil Day, private secretary to the Governor-General, will arrive in Auckland this week from Wellington, accompanied by Mrs. Day. The Mayor and Mayoress of Wellington (Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Wright) will return to the South from their visit to Auckland to-morrow evening. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey), the Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works), and Sir Joseph Ward are among visitors to Wanganui for to-day's boat race. •Mr. Justice Sim expects to pay a visit to England before long, but it is understood that Jhe will not leave until the return of Sir John Salmond, who is at present on~his way back to the Dominion from his European visit.
