BIG BLAZE IN TOKYO.
I IMPERIAL HOTEX BURNED. (Received S p.m.) TOKYO, April 16. The Imperial Hotel, the oldest ana largest in Tokyo, was destroyed by fire this afternoon, while the hulk oi tiie guests were attending the Empress' cherry blossom garden party in Shinjuku Gardens, at which the Prince of Wales was the chief guest. Marines from the warship Renown gave valuable aid in saving the belongings of the guests. The fire was so fierce that the building was destroyed in half an hour- Some members of the Prince of Wales' staff quartered at the hotel lost everything. A quantity of valuable presents from the Prince of Wales to "the. Prince Regent temporarily stored in the rooms were also destroyed, along with the personal effects of 400 foreign guests.
