In presenting "Over the Hill" for the consideration of exhibitors and motion picture patrons the world over, I am performing a task which affords mc a delight wholly unalloyed. Will Carleton, upon whose poems this production is based, is known as the " Farm Poet." He sang of the homely things of life —the things with wbich you and I are intimately familiar. Nor has any poet ever revealed a keeucr knowledge of the inner of just Plain Folks. In " Over the Hill " and its companion poem, he touched upon the same subject which caused Absalom to break the heart of his father, David. King of Israel, and which evoked from King Lear his immortal plaint, " How sharper than v serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child." It is a subject which will wrest songs from the poets of all the generations yet to come. I have watched the development of •' Over the Hill " from the moment the Hrst scene was written. months it has been in course of production. It represents a Labour of Love. In it I take a pride which ti n h never bc<*n exceeded —or oven equalled in all the years Fox Film Corporation has been • issuing pictures. (Signed) WILLIAM FOX.
