A VALUABLE MOVEMENT.

We are glad to see that the idea of a Community Club for Cadets and Territoriule has come to Auckland, .and we hope it will produce a vigorous movement. The aim of the Community Club may be briefly delined as adding a human and personal touch to military training. It is idle to ignore the fact that with many Cadet* Jtnd Territorials drill is not popular. It is irksome, much of it is uninteresting, and in some cases it is imposed upon lads who are already tired after their day's, work. By providing comforts and intellectual interest for these boys and men the Community Club not only makes this duty to the State more interesting and acceptable, but helps to produce better citizens. Of the numerous organisations working among lads and young men there is none in a better position to give more valuable service than the Community Club. The opportunity ie provided in the form of thousands of boys and young men gathered together, and it should not, be difliciilt. t.o grasp it. The movement, with its lectures on subjects of interest and profit to boys and young men. and its social side, hae been a distinct success in Wellington, and there is no reason why at least an equal measure of success should not be reached here. It is really a sign to those who are being compelled to train for their country's defence that those who are outside this compulsion have not forgotten them.
