A PROFITABLE TEAR.
SURPLUS'OF £24,789. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The tramway receipts for the past 12 months show great improvement. Th. previous year resulted in a nominal profit of £3231, which was really a loes of £I£SO. Fares were raised and the price of coal dropped, with the result that the past year shows a credit of £22,407. The total revenue was £357,149 and the expenditure £364,742. Notwithstanding the increased revenue the number of passenzers shows a. falling-off, but the actual decrease is not stated. The power supply department shows a profit of £2382, against a loss last year of £4.?13.
