Mr. A. San ford protests strongly against the pledging of the credit of the people for the establishment of a State Bank. "I—it the farmers' cooperate and find their own guarantee and lend millions for mortgage purposes." he writes, "but I demand on behalf of the whole population that we are not enslaved by being held as security to found a State Bank." "Bob" points out that very many wooden houses in Auckland are deteriorating for lack of a coat of paint, and that when many tradesmen are amon"the ranks of the unemployed owners should take the opportunity to have the work done partly for their own protection and partly as a duty to the eommunitv.
