WINTER SHOW.
S ' PRIZE MONET TOTALS £500. SHED FOR INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITS. A meeting of the executive Committee of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr. E. D. McLennan presiding. Votes of sympathy with the relatives of the late Messrs. H. D. Heather and Moore-Jones were carried in silence. Messrs. Hills (president) and Finlay (secretary) of the Auckland Industrial Association attended the meeting to discuss winter exhibition matters. They emphasised the value of an exhibition of Xew Zealand industries, and said that the secondary and primary industries were interdependent. Mr. Hills asked the Agricultural Association to grant the Industrial Association the use of the whole of one shed in which to display New Zealand manufactures at the winter exhibition. After Mr. McLennan had spoken in favour of giving favourable consideration to the request, it was unanimously resolved to grant space equal to a whole shed to the Industrial Association. The Auckland Harbour Board wrote granting the use of a third shed on the Central wharf for the winter exhibition. It was resolved to inform the Onehunga Poultry Club and the Auckland Kennel Club " that the association regretted that there would not be sufficient space available for their shows to be held at the winter exhibition. The Scott memorial trustee wrote offering a 20-guinea shield for classes 6 and 7 in the dairy section, to be awarded to the cheesemaker gaining the highest grading marks for the season November, 1921, to April 30, 1922. The secretary reported that many special prizes and donations had been received from business firms and others for the Winter Show. The, executive committee then dealt with the reports of sub-committees for the, schedules for the various sections of the show. These were approved, and the secretary was instructed to have the schedules distributed as early as possible.
The prize money totals £500 for the various sections; butter, cheese, roots and cereals, hams and bacon-, fruit, kauri gum, wool and skins, educational, photography, arts and crafts, needlework and dressmaking, horticulture, garden produce, district courts, home industries and cookery.
A sub-committee (Messrs. Massey, Ambury, Wyllie, Aitkenhead, H. Brown, Hamlin and Wallace) was set up to report on sheep dog trials and ploughing match for Winter Show week.
