ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONS.

TEMPORARY CENOTAPH SUGGESTED. A meeting of the Anzac Day Celebration Committee was held »t the Town Hall this morning, with the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, in the chair, to draw up the details of the services to be held at the Town Hall and at Waikumete, and to arrange for speakers. It was decided to send invitations to deliver addresses suitable to the occasion to several clergy and public men, and to make an announcement as soon as answers had .been received. Another matter under consideration was a suggestion from the Returned Soldiers' Association, conveyed, through Mr. G. E. Eliott, that a temporary ccnotapli. should be erected on a suitable spot in the vicinity of the Town Hall, in order that citizens may have an opportunity of placing at the foot of the cenotaph floral tributes to the memory of the gallant dead. These flowers would afterwards be taken out to Waikumete I and placed at the foot of the soldiers' I memorial in the cemetery.
