At the dedication ceremony at St. Mary of the Angel's, Wellington, on Sunday, Bey. G. Mahoney gave a few particulars of the finances of the new building. The cost to date was £31,865 5/3, including £1,400 paid to the architect, the total being considerably augmented by the extraordinary increase in the •price of cement. Of' that, £25,884 1/6 had been collected, £4,650 had been borrowed at 5J per cent., and £1,000 at 6 per cent., while £I,SOO had been given free of interest, leaving a debt of £7,500. The speaker appealed to the congregation to reduce that amount. How far the outeide of the church would be completed, he said, depended on this gener--osity. He could not say too much in praise of the architect (Mr. F. de J. Clere), whose supervision of the day labour employed had enabled the work to be carried on. His thanks were also due to the foreman, Messrs. Martin Benzoni and Frank Sutherland, for their efficient services. Afterwards it w-ae announced that the collection totalled £1,655, which would be augmented in the following forty-eight hours by at least £320. A high tribute was also paid to Mr. Clere by Rev! Father McCarthy. A white memorial tower erected aibove the ridge at Thiepval on the river Somme has been dedicated to the memory of the 36th (Ulster) Division and all the men from Ulster who fell in the sen-ice of the Empire during the leccnt war.
