THE ARREST OF GANDHI. INDIA OPINION .DIVIDED. (Br Cable.—Press Association. | DELHI, March 14. The arrest of Gandhi was received quietly throughout India. Allahabad i declared a hartal during the evening of ] Saturday, but next morning all the i shops were reopened. At Bombay and i Lahore there was perfect quiet. At Madias a mild demonstration, in- ( eluding a larfje bonfire of foreign clothes, • was made as a protest against Gandhi's , arrest. The newspaper ''Leader of Allahabad" , described the arrest as a masterpiece of ; official ineptitude. The '-Patrika ,, declared that the arrest was an earnest . of a step forward in the policy of re- , pr< ssion. i A correspondent says that tbe mere , fact of the arrest of Gandhi while the .
