NORTH SHORE YACHT CLUB. VICTORY WINS DUNNING CUP. , JTJNIORS HANDLE ONE-DESIGNERS. The North -Shore Yacht Club held harbour races on Saturday afternoon for five classes. There were good entries in each class, and some keen racing was witnessed, especially in the Jelllcoe one-design and the 14ft square bilge classes, for wnich there were twelve starters. The principal event was a general handicap for the larger yachts, the first prize being the Dunning Cup. This cup was presented by the late Mr. Jas. Dunning, and has been competed for annually for the past 23 years. The other classes were the 14-foot handicap and the 18-foot and uuder, and the Jellicoe class, for which the prize was a valuable trophy presented annually by Captain Tom Ryan. The condition stipulated by the donor of tnis trophy was that both skipper and <-rew uiust be under 21 years of age. Victory, with her spinnaker drawing well, went into the lead soon after the start, and led all the way. Off Orakei Waiouo and Daisy collided, with the result of torn sails and broken spars, and both had to retire. Waitere and Celox had a great race, Waitere crossing ISsecs. ahead of Celox. The finish was timed: Victory 4b 16m 40s, Waitere 4h 27m 40s, Celox 4b 27m 58s, Speedwell 4h 20m 445, Valeria 4h 32m 5Ss, Gloriana 4h 34m 475. Sadie 4h 35m 20s. Venus 4h 37m 565. Marie carried away her main boom and gave up. Corrected times place Victory first, Celox second, and Valeria third. THE SMALL CLASSES. j 18-Footers.—This class was sent off at j 2.55 p.m. over two rounds of the club's j usual course. Winsome, Tatarlki and lanthc. Kitty was first away, followed by Sport. lanthc. Winsome and Tatariki. Iv this order. Kitty led throughout. Sport lost her skipper overboard thronjrb the tiller carrying away. but he was smartly picked up by the remaining member of the crew. Only three boats finished, as follows: Kitty 4h 50m, Winsome 5h lm. Tatarlki 5h lm 30s.
