Mr. Meldrtrm, S.M., gave reserved judgment to-day in a case wherein K. T. Bailey, on behalf of the Labour Department, proceeded against William BaldeTstonc, secretary of the Blackball Miners' Union, claiming £200 on a charge of inciting; and instigating an Unlawful strike at Blackball mine on December 12 last.
The Magistrate held that Balderstone ■was not a worker within the meaning of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration A<rt, and also held that the offence was proved, but. in view of thjfl beiniT Balderstone'e first individual offence, the penalty would be only a £25 tine, with costs.
