CALVES AND TAXES.
A SLAUGHTERING CAMPAIGN. (Received 12.30 a. m> BRISBANE, this day. The Premier stronply deprecated the action of certain large stockholders in deciding, owinjr to the unpromising outlook for the sale of cattle, to kill their calves in order to reduce their income tax liabilities. He declared this action detrimental to the stockholders themselves and injurious to the State as a whole. He suggested n compromise on the incidence of the taxes. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
