9 ! The Takapuna Borough Council met last eveniug. i'reseut: The Mayor (Mr. A. M. Oould) and Councillors .1. W. Williamson. F. W. Suckling. A. F. C.rant. c. M. Carter. T. M. Fiulayson, A. TV. Clark, .1. Collins, A. 11. Wilkie". Riparian Rights.—Mr. T. McDonnell offered to surrender his riparian rights, conditionally on the council agreeing to erect a I'cuce when Shoal Bay is reclaimed. This was approved. Buildiug Permits. —The building inspector reported that 'JtS building permits had been applied for, representing a total expenditure of i'to.o!l9. v Milford Beach. —The Mayor ami Councillor Clark were authorised to interview I the Craig trustees to ascertain tbe price of | two sections adjoining the beach, with a j view to them being reserved for the use of mothers aud children. Belmont Subdivision.—Plans submitted by I£. H. Jackson for proposed subdivision were approved, with third class roads, subject to the council being satisfied that the school is getting the back area at reasonable price. Saltburne-Hurstmere Corner Subdivision. —Plans for subdivision of one acre into five allotments were submitted. It was stated that the proposal would be made to conform to the new by-law. and it was approved. Building Without rermits.—Several cases of persons beginning building without first obtaining permits were reported, aud the Mayor stated that it was evident the offenders would have to be prosecuted. Chinese Quarters. —The medical officer of health reported that certain premises inhabited by Chinese were Insanitary ami decidedly unhealthy. IJe recommended that the council issue a demolition notice to tbe owner. It was agreed to take action accordingly.
