SHOT A BARMAID.
THEH ______ HIMSELF. SYDNEY TRAGEDY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Decemoer 17. A tragedy has attracted attention to Glebe during the past week. On Thursday last the police were summoned to a boardinghouse in Glebe Road, and there they found Kathleen Ryan, a barmaid, lying on the floor, with a revolver shot wound which made her case very serious. She was taken to the hospital, where she is still in a critical condition. The police commenced a search for the ■man in the case and yesterday they found James Handley, lying near Lady Macquarie's chair. There was a 'bullet wound in the temple and the tell-tale revolver was lying beside him. The story is the usual one of the wife, the husband, and the other woman. The barmaid had been friendly with the man when she discovered that he had a wife and children and decided to break the friendship. She toM him this and there was a heated argument, which ended by Handley drawing his revolver and shooting the woman. Handley was taken to the hospital, where he died a short while after admission.
