'■THE MESSIAH:" Tomorrow evening thp Auckland Choral ■ \Society will present Handel's masterpiece, and it is hoped there will be a record attendance, especially as the price of admission is small, and seats mar be reserved in any part of the Town Hall. "The Messiah"' has enraptured millions since its first performance ISO years ago, and it is likely that hundreds of years hence the sublime sentiments expressed in solos and choruses will be finding an echo in human hearts and inspiring them to higher ideals. The first number opens ! with the tenor solo '"Comfort we. nw ' people," followed by the comforting words of the Trophet Isaiah telling that ■ t'be way shall be made smooth and the ' gl° r y °f tne Lord shine around us. Th.-n 1 the symphony of the shepherds' watcn by night and the appearance of the Angel and the Heavenly Host praising ' God and wishing peace and goodwill tu- ' wards men. The second part describes the suffering and the exaltation of the 1 Messiah, and ends with the wonderful 1 "Hallelujah" Chorus. "The Messiah" Till Ibe produced with the assistance.of -Auckland's leading soloists, a chorus of 159 ' voices, and an orchestra of 30 instruments.
