PERSONALS.
The Hon. G. J. Garland, M.L.C., tea arrived in the city from the South. Mr. J. R. Palmer, Tcnvn Clerk of Wellington, is slowly improving in health. Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., arrived from tho south yesterday. Mr. F. J. Gunn, late chairman of the Coal Control Committee haa left XeW Zealand for Australia. Dr. Keith Macky waa appointed last evening, physio-therapeutist at the Auckland Hospital. 5 Mr. J. H. Gunson, Mayor of Auckland, commenced his Christmas vacation which is to be spent at Waibcke, to-day. Jit will resume his oflicial duties on January !). Dr. J. M. Stewart, Bishop of Melanesia, who returned to Auckland by the • Miooion steamer Southern Cross yesterI day morning, lias improved very much lin health since hi* last visit to AuckI land. He will remain in Xew Zealand to attend the meeting of the general synod at Auckland in April, after which 'he will leave for England to arrange various matters in connection with tho Mission.
