A garden sale in aid of soldiers' orphans and Christmas gifts for orphans and children in the Mental Hospital, was held this afternoon in the grounds of the Hon. J. P. Campbell, In, Arney Road, Remuera. There was* a good attendance and the objects of the sale should benefit accordingly. The attractions were work, variety and sweets stalls, under the charge of the ever-ready committee of the Victoria League. There was also a band in attendance while a number of pretty dances were daintily performed by the pupils of Miss Daphne Knight. BAZAAR AT ONEHUNGA As evidence of the sympathy taken by the children in the campaign for the Orphans' fund, the pupils of the sixth standard, Onehunga School, inaugurated a bazaar during the week just ended. As a result of their efforts the children in the Rotorua Hospital will receive £12, Mr. Jeffrey's Home at Onehunga £10, and £22 will g 0 to the Orphan's fund. The result of this school function, got up on the spur of the moment, should be an incentive to others to help in the splendid movement now engaging public attention.
