CLOSING OF SHOPS. DRAPERS AND GROCERS. (By Telegraph.—Trees Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday, j Tlie forthcoming Christmas and Xevv Year holidays were mentioned at the meeting of the Dominion Council of the Xew Zealand Federation of Drapers and Clothiers to-day. Tlie Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin delegates announced that in each of those cities it had been decided to observe the usual Saturday half-holiday on Christmas Eve and Sew Year's Eve. The usual late shopping night would be on the Friday, thereby making no change in the ordinary weekly arrangement observed throughout the year, and permitting all employees to gain ihc full benefit of the holiday, extending from 1 p.m. on Saturday until the following Wednesday morning in each case. It was also stated that the Dunedin grocers had agreed to close their establishments from 12.30 p.m. on Christmas Eve until January 4. in order to comply with the week's holiday included in the terras of the award. It was pointed out that this made a ten-day break. Now Year's Day, which falls on Sun-d-.iy, will he celebrated on Monday, and Tuesday, January :!, will also 'be a I holiday.
