CLAIM FOR MONEY LENT.
Mr. W. R- McKean, S.M., gave a decisiion in a case 'brought by Airs. Lucy Pell (Mr. Kayes) against Thomas Trigg ('Mr. A. Addiaon) to recover £10, alleged to be due for board and money lent.
■His Worship said defendant admitted that certain money was lent to him, but stated it was to 'be invested on the races, and lips. Pell was to participate in the profits. Yet when defendant had £18 in his pocket he did not repay £4 lent to him. Another poirot was that though defendant alleged £26 10/ was owingr to him toy Mrs. Pell, he said he paid his board up tq date. (One would have thought the obvious thing would have been to let his board stand against that sum. Mr. MoKean held that'plaintiff was entitled to succeed, but as for two weeks defendant had ito get his own meals, the board for that fortnight would be reduced from 30/ to 15/ per week. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £17 10/, with costs.
